Plenty of pundents and popular leftist personalities have said those things. But politicians currently in office don’t need to explicitly say thing things in order for that side to be associated with it. The right is associated with white supremacy, even though nobody in office has explicitly said anything white suprematist. Most of the feelings and attitudes surrounding a particular party don’t come from the politicians themselves.
