Therapy bad, just talk to your uncles instead (he's very close with his)

> I soft disagree with this, but I think this is partly because I've been lucky to be very close with some friends and dad's brothers growing up. We'd often just hang out in my friends living room and just...talk. I'd have heart-to-hearts with my uncles on car rides. But to your point, the stereotype of men not really being able to open up to others is a stereotype for a reason. I agree with the other person calling this anecdotal. I think epidemic is a misnomer because it implies a lot of wrong things (unexpected, outside of normal, ...), but I agree that it's widespread and that it's a failing of community/communication at all levels. Current popular trends aren't helping to fix it either, people seem to be buying into the "us vs them" movements and isolating too much instead of coming together. Therapy/psychologists don't fix this either. Professional relations can help develop healthy/stable/self-regulated habits, but they can't form or replace the lack of emotionally safe intimate relationships with peers, or the lack of opportunities to meet those peers in the first place.
