Cranky expat vs. Instagram shamans: the collision nobody asked for

Help me out but I don’t know what to make of all these people posting on expatriate pages from the Mexican Caribbean to the beautiful islands of SE Asia announcing they are coming and requesting a detox because what does that even mean? And then you have their post pounced on by these hippy chakra balancing, kundalini activation, tarot card waving, ancestral healing, unqualified life (or whatever’s trending) coaches, star seeds, naturalpathic shamanic astrological star chart gazers trying to sell these poor souls a package…_$$$ Whatever happened to just hanging out with some locals & having a few drinks (limited of course), taking some long walks and perhaps reading a book on the beach? Do you really need to pay your hard earned cash for some silly stuff? I suppose we could blame it on Instagram influencers and lax laws on taking advantage of nitwits. Ionic footpaths? Oh really!? The light of the collective consciousness seems to be growing dimmer… Note: Freeing your mind doesn’t have to include leaving your brains out on the floor.
